Pharmacy was mostly a man’s profession in those days, but there were one or two prominent ladies. One was Nora Price, a great personality in the Women’s Institute not only locally but worldwide. She mostly undertook short locums. Isabel Sillar became Chief Pharmacist in the Ministry of Health and eventually President of the Society. She was a very strong and opinionated lady of Scottish origin. Audrey Palmer of course was not only a well known Pharmacist in Harare but captained the Olympic Hockey team to the Games in Moscow, and of course there were others too.
